The Titirangi Resilience Group is a volunteer initiative helping our community become more connected, prepared, and disaster-ready. As part of a whole-of-society approach to emergency readiness and response, the group supports local preparedness, information sharing, and coordination during the first 72 hours after a major disaster. We’re currently looking for Titirangi residents to get involved.
One key role is becoming a Street or Neighbourhood Disaster Coordinator. Volunteers help build strong local networks by encouraging neighbours to be prepared, checking on people after an event, identifying anyone who may need support, and sharing local updates with the wider response network.
“This can be as simple as chatting with your neighbours about being prepared for a disaster and checking on them afterwards to see who might need help or have resources they can share with others,” said Bev Mossop, Co-Chair, Titirangi Resilience Group
Volunteers may support a single street, part of a street, or a wider neighbourhood. The group meets every six months, and training and resources are available for all volunteers.
